Sedona Jeep Tour
Vacation is officially over and I had a personal bucket-list destination checked off the list. Sedona, Arizona! A place my wife Alexis has been to several times before with her family growing up. Sedona is a desert town near Flagstaff that’s surrounded by red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests. It’s noted for its mild climate and vibrant arts community, but we knew that to get the most out of this beautiful place was to schedule a special Jeep Tour that would take us on 1 of 200 different trails up into the red-rocks.
Although I didn't get to drive this beast of a vehicle, we did have an excellent driver/tour guide name Sebastian that drove us for an hour and a half up an extremely bumpy off-road trail.
Once we left the Jeep station and made it off road, our driver told us that he would bend the rules a little and take us beyond the normal checkpoint. We were now embarking on a spot that would be 5,000 feet above sea level!
Fun fact, the tires used on the Jeeps are made out of teflon. A material used in making bulletproof vests. We hit some of the deepest pot holes and drove over several large rocks and it didn’t phase the vehicle once. The most exciting part was half way up, we were inches from the edge of a trail looking thousands of feet down and passing other tourists who realized we were going beyond normal checkpoint heights.
We finally made it up. 5,000ft above sea level surrounded by Red-Rock canyon walls and part of a pine forest. This was a sight I could hardly take in at first. It’s my first time to Sedona, my first time seeing Red-Rock canyons and i’m in the midst of it all. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. It’s amazing that God created such terrains and structures. i soaked up as much as I could. Going on this Jeep Tour was just what I needed for an unforgettable adventure and time to be re-inspired.
