The Pittman Hotel
It’s the hottest part of summer. You have a wife and a baby, it’s 2021 so travel is still kind of weird in places. What do you do? You go the easy route and plan a staycation at a hotel you haven’t stayed at. A few days and only thirty minutes away, The Pittman Hotel was our destination. The plan was no plan, this was all about taking it slow. Soaking up each day as a family for what it was. Here’s a look into what I am rating as Deep Ellum’s coziest stay.
Once all settled in, we dashed for our swim suits and headed for the pool. A sure way to kick off your staycation.
After a good afternoon at the pool just us three, we worked up quite an appetite. It was time to head in, get Knox to his baby sitter and freshen up for our dinner date.
ELM & GOOD
American Tavern-Inspired Cooking Locally Sourced Farm To Table Fare.
An evening spent mostly connecting, dreaming, and laughing as the sun went down. We opted in for the East Texas Hushpuppies and the Berkshire Pork Riblets to start. Next was our main course, we both ordered the 44 Farms Bavette Steak with a side of creamed corn (pictured above). Topped off with a gourmet chocolate chip cookie with ice-cream & chocolate ganache. I purposely ate lite all day leading up to this fantastic meal. Elm & Good did not disappoint in the slightest bit. We thoroughly enjoyed this inventive take on farm-focused fare. Located here at The Pittman Hotel.
DAY II
We’re rested from a fun first day, the sun is rising. The birds are chirping. The subtle sound of the dart train periodically passing is music to my ears. As I lay and spectate these ASMR scenes happening all around our room, I quickly get everyone up and reach for shoes and camera. It’s time to take a walk down the neighborhood and get this day started…with coffee of course.
There is something about getting up early, camera/coffee in hand, and taking the city as it comes. This became an impromptu mini photo-walk and I unfortunately left my headphones in the hotel room. The only thing missing were Too Mellow For You queued up. IFKYK.

Well that concludes our few days at The Pittman Hotel. A historical hotel with a modern twist. This property and neighborhood of Deep Ellum is oozing with opportunity to explore, relax, and be inspired. With boutique shops, live music, and more its hard to be disappointed. It’s a lively area but what set the bar high was The Pittman Hotel itself. Inside the walls, touches of mid-century design paired with Dallas charm made it all the more easier to unwind or return after a day of exploring. The room specifically has carefully selected details: combining warm tones of the flooring, decor, and lighting, to the original concrete columns/ceiling giving it that industrial edge. Oh and let’s not forget that king size bed! It felt more like a bedroom than a hotel and one I didn’t rush to leave.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for following along our family of three. This little trip came at such a great time and we know this wont be our last time staying here. From valet to concierge, and management; they truly have something special curated just for you. I highly recommend adding this to the top of your list if you too are a Dallas local seeking a staycation or visiting Dallas for the first time.
